About Me

I believe therapy should be a space where you feel safe, supported, and genuinely heard. Compassion, connection, and advocacy are at the heart of what I do. My goal is to create a warm, non-judgmental environment where clients can show up as they are and feel supported through life’s challenges.

My Experience

I am a practicing social worker and LCT-C with 10 years of experience in the addiction sector, supporting individuals through substance use challenges, recovery, and the often complex emotional and life circumstances that come with them. Over the years, I have also worked with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, and life transitions in both community and clinical settings. My work is grounded in compassion and connection, with a strong focus on meeting people where they are at and walking alongside them at their own pace.

My Approach

My approach is warm, collaborative, client-centred, and trauma-informed. I believe each person’s healing journey is unique, and I strive to meet clients where they are at. Therapy is about creating space to better understand yourself, build resilience, and move forward at a pace that feels comfortable and meaningful for you. I describe counselling as walking alongside clients through difficult seasons of life while helping them develop insight, self-compassion, and practical coping tools. I draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, and emotionally focused practices, tailoring sessions to each client’s individual needs and goals.

Who I See

I work with adults, youth, and couples who are experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, grief, burnout, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, addiction, and life transitions. I aim to create an inclusive and supportive space where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered.

My Practice

My work is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and trust, with a focus on helping clients feel comfortable showing up as themselves. Whether you are seeking support during a difficult time or looking for tools to better navigate life’s challenges, I would be honoured to walk alongside you in your healing and growth journey.

About Me

Hello, my name is Joel. I am a Licensed Counselling Therapist Candidate offering in-person and virtual sessions in Saint John. At this stage in my career, I am deeply committed to supporting individuals as they navigate their mental health journeys and work through the challenges that life presents.

I approach this work with a grounded and realistic perspective. I believe that change is not always loud or immediate, but often built through small, meaningful steps over time. Every step, whether it feels like progress or a setback, carries value. Moments of uncertainty or difficulty are not signs of failure, but opportunities to better understand yourself and what matters most to you.

In our work together, I aim to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and able to show up as you are. I value honesty, curiosity, and collaboration, and I see therapy as a shared process. My role is to work alongside you as you make sense of your experiences, recognize patterns, and explore new ways of responding to what life brings.

My Experience

I completed my Bachelor of Business Administration at Saint Francis Xavier University in 2021 and my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University in 2026. During this time, I worked in the business sector as a logistics coordinator and travelling sales representative, and later as a substitute teacher. Through these roles, I found that I was most drawn to the relational aspects of the work, particularly supporting and connecting with others during moments of stress or uncertainty. This interest led me to pursue a career in mental health, where I could focus more directly on helping individuals understand their experiences and create meaningful change in their lives.

My Approach

My role is not to direct or fix, but to support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself and the areas of your life that are within your control. This includes how you relate to your thoughts, respond to your emotions, and make sense of your experiences. Rather than offering quick solutions, I focus on helping you slow down and explore what is happening beneath the surface, especially in moments that feel confusing, overwhelming, or lack control. Through this process, we begin to identify what can be influenced, what may need to be accepted, and how you can respond in ways that feel more intentional and aligned with what matters to you.

Who I See

I work with adolescents (13+), adults, couples, and families. While I welcome every client who wishes to see me, much of my experience has been supporting individuals facing grief, anxiety, substance use, life transitions, and relationship challenges.
